I know you are thinking, "yea, friend, right". But he is a friend to me and to many other peon's like me. Kirk is a solid man - inside and out- he can kick my fanny. He is a man who loves his family, his wife and his God. He is a man of courage and strength. In spite of the pull and lure of the Hollywood world in which he lives, he stands firm. He and Chelsea are like lights on a mountain side at night. From my back deck at night, I can see a light shinning on the Front Range of the Rockies for miles and miles. Kirk is like that in Hollywood.
He has given up many offers in Hollywood through the years because it would go against his commitment to his wife, kids and faith. In some ways Kirk is considered an outcast by some, but to me, he's a Christ like hero. He's a man that says "say what you want, do what you want, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
As a result, God has blessed his marriage, family and his faith. He's a man that walks the walks and practices what he preaches. He is not afraid to talk to gang leaders on the Santa Monica pier about Jesus when most people will not even establish eye contact. He is not afraid to say on live TV that "Jesus is Lord and let me tell you about him."
I recently told Kirk I was about to move back to Alabama to take care of my aging parents. I expressed that I was probably not doing the best thing for my career. Kirk said, "Who cares? Way to go Mitch. You are doing the right thing. God will honor you for that."
We need more Kirk's in the world.
I want to be like Kirk Cameron when I grow up.
I hope his story will influence your story.
Mitch
