Mitch Temple Online: Bringing Hope Back to Your Marriage

I was talking with a local pastor at our church last Saturday evening. He was telling me that he was counseling a couple who were experiencing some struggles in their marriage. They had been married for quite a few years and things had grown stagnant in their relationship. They had asked him, is this as good as it gets?
Is this what we have to look forward to for the rest of our lives?
After running through a rough patch of our own, my wife and I will tell you no!!!

There is something better down the street, I deserve better, she doesn’t respect me, he doesn’t communicate with me, there are plenty of men or women out there.
This is a pill Satan is trying to sell, if you rather you swallow it or not is up to you. As a man who just celebrated his nineteenth year of marriage, it does not have to be that way. What you do with your marriage is within your control. Trust in Christ and he will see you through.. When you come out the other side, your relationship will only be stronger, not only in your marriage, in your relationship, but in your walk with Christ. Spit it out and tell him or her how much you love them.

Thanks Brian for that incredible insight. People like you who have been through a very tough time can certaintly speak into the marriage of many who are ready to call it quits. There is value in believing that there is something better for the two of you down the road. No matter what our feelings tell us, there is hope. Couples can turn their marriage around even when only one is willing to step out first. Yes, there are times the other spouse refuses to respond, but that is not the majority of cases I have worked with. A bad marriage can be turned around with the right attitude and right actions. It takes alot of work but worth it.
